I spend most of my time selling a dream, a fantasy, a vision of the ideal in my mind, but I think it's time to peel back the facade and reveal the reality that rarely makes it into the keen eyed frame of a camera. I'm going to start unveiling "The Real America".
In many ways The Real America represents our own inner lives and silent struggles. We let others view the dream of what we want to outwardly portray, but inwardly we are struggling and there are often things we are afraid to reveal to others. Shame and self-hatred often brews beneath the surface, just waiting to erupt at a weak spot in the thick crust of our skin's mantle.
Here's to the beginnings of a new journey, the honest struggle, the inner war, the shame unravelled, and the ugly brought to the surface.
Shabbat Shalom! May you rest in the peace that only God can give.
